The Club Macintosh de l'Estrie's mission is to help Macintosh users to meet and exchange informations on Apple Macintosh computers, its technology and the softwares and peripherals supported by this platform. The Club offers means to gather every categories of users from novices to experts to promote support between its members and to broadcast all informations on available and future products. Since the vast majority of our members speak French (we are located in Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada), all our reunions and activities are in French, but we can help you in English if you have some questions to ask. |

The Club was founded in September 1985 by teachers, students and other personnel members of the Université de Sherbrooke. Back then, it was named MacDeLUS. As it grew, more and more people from outside the University came and the Club was oriented more as a regional users group which finally became the Club Macintosh de l'Estrie (Eastern Townships). From the original Macintosh 128, the Club presented all new models up to the iMac, the MacBook and the PowerMac, and MacOS from System 1.0 to Leopard (10.5). |

The Club Macintosh de l'Estrie offers to its members 3 different activities.
1. Monthly reunion :
Each secondth Monday evening of the month (except July and August), it is a formal reunion with 2 or 3 subjects, Club news, news from Apple and other Macintosh products vendors and users. There is also a question period for troubleshooting problems from the members, a monthly selection of sharewares and a newsletter with tips and some general information. Some prizes are also drawn. On some holidays the reunion is moved to a subsequent Monday. 5$ is asked for non members (6$ for outside Sherbrooke), except for the first visit where it's free! This is a good occasion to subscribe or renew.
2. Lundi Mac-Échanges ("Mac-Exchanges Monday") :
Each last Monday evening of the month (except June, July and August), it is some free workshops open to everybody, where you can bring your own Macintosh for troubleshooting or for different advices. Some other Macintoshes are there for different kinds of demos. Upon request, sone particular workshops can be organized. On some holidays, the reunion is moved to another Monday.
3. "Le Verger" BBS :
The Club Macintosh de l'Estrie has a BBS (bulletin board system) called "Le Verger" (The Orchard) which gives you 24 hours a day access to local and national conferences on many subjects including the Macintosh! Ask for help, help some others, or just take part to the discussions. Le Verger offers also a vast collection of sharewares and freewares for the Macintosh. Le Verger is also part of "Agora" and "Place aux Jeunes" networks, two French speaking networks between the BBS of the Macintosh users groups from the province of Québec. You can find different series of conferences (general subjects, Macintosh subjects) and also a flea market for used Macintoshes and other items.
To complete this, each member of Le Verger gets a Internet e-mail address and can communicate to everybody on the Internet without having to subscibe to an Internet service provider.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Jacques Gagné, alias JAG
President of Club Macintosh de l'Estrie
